I'm standing near the nurses station at one of the larger and busier local emergency departments, when I happen to catch two staff members discussing a patient...
Physician Assistant: "Hey, have you seen my crackhead?"
ED Tech: "Uh .. you're going to have to be more specific."

By the way what is a ED tech? I have heard of physicians assistants. We dont have either in Australia.

An ED Tech is -- well, one of them says it's what they call orderlies now to make them feel better. They're usually trained to the level of basic EMT or CNA, and support the nursing and physician staff. In most departments they'll do EKGs, help transport patients (to xray, the floor, etc), help keep rooms stocked, chart on traumas or codes, etc.
